Most Schmetz needles include two color-coded bands just below the shank; except for twin needles, which have no color code.
The top color code indicates the type of needle and the lower band indicates the size.
Schmetz universal needles will not have a color code on the top band, but the stretch needles will have a yellow band while jean needles have a blue band. The lower color band on these needles will be different for each size
